WHAT: A Buddhist Bike Pilgriamge Training Ride from Sports Basement across the Golden Gate Bridge, touching Mount Tam, Mill Valley and the Paradise Dive Loop through Tiburon.
WHEN: Saturday June 11 starting at Sports Basement in Crissy Fields. Meet at 8:45 a.m.; ride starts at 9:00 a.m.. Alternative start is at Mikes Bikes in Sausalito: meet there at 9:45 a.m. and ready to pedal at 10:00 a.m.
THE STATISTICS: The full route involves approximately 2,600 feet of elevation gain and 45 miles. Total ride time approximately 4 hours. Those who start in Sausalito will knock off approximately 900 feet of elevation gain, 14.5 miles of riding and 70-80 minutes.
THE DETAILS: Starting at Sports Basement we will ride over the Bridge and through Sausalito to Mikes Bikes. A short stay on the bike path to Tam Junction and along Highway 1 to Panoramic Highway. A short time on Panoramic with magical vistas of Mt. Tam and down to Mill Valley 2am Club via Sequoia Valley Road. At the top of Camino Alto we will take Chapman to Tamalpais which will lead us to the start of the Paradise Loop on the Corte Madera side. We will ride along part of the Bay to Tiburon and return via Strawberry to the bike path, Mikes Bikes and return to Crissy Fields.
MISCELLANEOUS: Some parts of the route involve single lanes without any shoulder. Small sections involve some local knowledge so please stick together at these places. Bring water, electrolytes, helmet, bike in good condition and some snacks although we will be able to refuel at many places en route. We can stop at any place and there are opportunities at Cafe Acri in Tiburon or Satraj India Cafe in Sausalito.
